On June 24, 2025, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice witnessed another powerful milestone in Islamic leadership and rehabilitation. The MERIT program (Mentorship • Education • Rehabilitation • Integrated • Training) celebrated the graduation of it's new class of dedicated Muslim leaders.
Over six weeks, participants completed 120 hours of intensive study, personal reflection, and mentorship training — preparing to return to their respective units as MERIT Muslim Coordinators. These brothers will now carry the mission forward: to teach, guide, and serve as examples of excellence, discipline, and compassion within their communities.
The graduation ceremony marked more than an achievement — it symbolized transformation. Each graduate stood as proof that true change begins from within, and that faith and education can rebuild lives, families, and entire communities.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Class of June 2025.
